History
Firm Foundations
Coachmen was founded in 1964 in Middlebury, Indiana, when three brothers came together to try and put their own spin on the RV market. In their first year, they built only twelve travel trailers, one truck camper, and about eighty truck caps. Despite the relatively low numbers, the high quality and craftsmanship in each product quickly created Coachmen’s reputation for providing a luxury product at an affordable price. Their travel trailers soon became some of the best-selling models on the market!
Expanding
Ever since its humble start, Coachmen has ballooned to match the rising demand for their incredible campers. They’ve since become a division of Forest River, Inc. and make use of a 220-acre property to help them keep up with demand. In just fifty years, they’ve built far more than 750,000 units and the number just keeps rising!

Finding the Right Coachmen RV

To get started, we recommend figuring out the number and type of sleeping arrangements you’ll need. Coachmen RVs often include fold-outs and convertible furniture for bonus sleeping spaces, but for people with back and muscle issues, a bunkhouse layout or one with two separate bedrooms instead of one might be better.
