A towable RV is a low-barrier way to elevate your camping trip into a camping experience. But there are a lot of shapes, sizes, and types of towable RV on the market, so we here at Minneapolis Trailer wanted to walk you through some of the more common types below. To learn more, or to see the towable RVs we have for sale, contact our store in Rogers, Minnesota, today!

Small Types

The smallest towable RVs are pop-up campers, which vary in size and luxury from tents on wheels to a foldable all-in-one room. They’re so light and compact that most vehicles can tow them easily.

The next smallest are teardrop campers, named for their shape. They provide a climate-controlled bedroom and bathroom with the potential for a small kitchenette or outdoor cooking space. They can also be towed by most vehicles.

Medium Types

Stand-up trailers are shaped similarly to teardrop ones, but they’re large enough to add a nice interior kitchen and living space to the bedroom and bathroom. They require larger vehicles, but are still fairly easy to handle.

Large Trailers

The largest towable RVs start with fifth wheels. These can be almost bus-sized and have a unique hitch that requires a pickup truck, as it hitches in the bed rather than the rear bumper. They have high ceilings and all the residential-style amenities you could want, like kitchens, private bedrooms, variable sleeping arrangements, bathrooms, and living spaces.

Travel trailers are similarly-sized but hitch to a rear bumper. Toy haulers have a more conventional hitch as well, but the rear of the interior space is taken up by a cargo area designed to transport powersport vehicles like ATVs and dirt bikes.
