Selecting the Right Type of RV for Your Needs

If you’re in the market for a new RV you might find yourself overwhelmed with choices. There are quite a few different vehicles that fit into this category and it’s not always easy figuring out which might be the best for you! Motorhomes

Motorhomes can be broken into 3 easy categories: Class A, B, and C. Classes A and B are extremely different, while Class C stands as a sort of compromise between the two. Most of the RVs you see on the road are likely Class A motorhomes. These vehicles are large and luxurious and are great for long trips and can even be used as full-time homes. 

Class B motorhomes, on the other hand, are extremely small in comparison and are generally the size of an average van. While they have a few amenities they aren’t nearly as decked out as Class As. These are great for those who travel regularly, but aren’t looking to spend the majority of their time in their vehicle. Class Cs are a bit smaller than Class As but still come with quite a few amenities. One of the most notable differences is that the sleeping area is often lofted. 

Trailers

Unlike motorhomes, travel trailers cannot be driven independently and will need to be hitched to a car. If you’re not looking to upgrade your personal vehicle it might be best to go with a travel trailer as almost any vehicle with a hitch is able to pull one of these RVs. These are some of the most lightweight and affordable RVs and there are a lot of different options on the market. These vehicles are popular among campers but can lack some of the amenities you would find in the much larger 5th wheel. 

5th wheels have quite a bit in common with Class C motorhomes as they are both spacious and will include the most amenities that you’d also find in a traditional home or apartment. The most obvious difference is that they need to be towed, requiring a more heavy-duty vehicle with a specialized gooseneck-style tow hitch.

The last trailer on our list is a toy hauler, which is a towable RV with a specific purpose. It largely resembles a 5th wheel RV but has added space and a helpful garage door to make storing extra vehicles a breeze! These trailers are also favored by campers and are great for also hauling vehicles such as motorcycles, dirt bikes, ATVs, and UTVs.
